Ministry Report: Weekend of Breakthrough and My Ordination

flyer-5.5inx8.5in-h-frontI know it’s been a while since I shared a formal ministry report.  However, I wanted to take a moment to share some highlights of what Holy Spirit did this past weekend.  I don’t believe I’ve ever experienced anything quite like it!

Weekend of Breakthrough with Kyle Winkler and Larry Sparks

In Palm Beach Gardens, FL, my ministry colleague, Kyle Winkler, and I led a Weekend of Breakthrough conference at Covenant Centre International and then we traveled down to Awakening House of Prayer in Dania Beach, FL.   All I can say is wow.

During the services, the word of God was preached in boldness and then, Holy Spirit would come in powerful visitation.  Kyle and I ministered on the theme of identity-based warfare.  Too many believers spend their Christian lives “suiting up” and engaging in a bloodbath with a defeated devil.  God is summoning us, in this strategic hour, to what I call “offensive spiritual warfare.”  Instead of always reacting to the devil and the powers of darkness, we begin to look for what the Father is doing and pray prayers and make declarations that are in agreement with His movement rather than the devil’s.  In order to do this, it’s key that we 1) know our identity in Christ, 2) recognize that by the merit of Jesus’ blood, we are fit to enter God’s Presence, and 3) that we are called to create and release an atmosphere of breakthrough in our everyday lives.

By the final service on Saturday evening, I believe that God had dealt with many root issues and released a fresh revelation of our identity in Christ.  When that happens, we discover that by the merit of Jesus’ blood, we can boldly enter into the manifest Presence of God.

What happened Saturday evening was outstanding and unexpected.  Towards the end of the service, God came in.  Let me specify: The King came in.  It was one of the moments where we could not “stand to minister,” just like the priests in the Old Testament (see 2 Chron. 5:14), because that weighty Presence of God literally came crashing into that moment of time.   It became sacred space.  I believe many people were touched, healed, delivered and set free by the greatest Minister of all who has a 100% success rate: Holy Spirit.

My Ordination Service

On Sunday July 17, I was ordained for ministry by Dr. Norman Benz—a man who has become my spiritual father and partner in ministry.  It was a great honor, and truly, there were new dimensions of anointing released.

Immediately after the ordination service, Kyle and I traveled down to Dania Beach to the Awakening House of Prayer (which is under the leadership of dear friend, ministry colleague, and senior editor of Charisma Magazine, Jennifer LeClaire).  This is where I saw immediate measurable results of my ordination being released.  I came prepared, with a message all ready to go.  Then, minutes before the service began, the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart so clearly, giving me a completely different direction to go in – a direction that was prophetically customized for the people attending that service at that moment, in that unique community.  I had to take a leap of faith, step out, and speak forth what the Lord put in my heart.  Truly, it was His word, not mine.  I had a word to share.  I was ready with what I thought should have been presented; God had another idea.

I don’t consider myself a prophet—not at all.  That’s not my ministry office.  But I do believe that the gifts of the Spirit are for everyone.  When the Holy Spirit sovereignly decides to use you in one of the manifestation gifts (1 Cor. 12), you’re up to bat.  Doesn’t matter if you’re a prophet by office or not.  When God is moving, and He invites you into His movement, go with the flow, friend!  I did.  I’d never operated in a prophetic flow like that.  Surely not a testimony to me or anything I could muster up; it’s a testimony that I speak over you, right now.  When the Spirit is moving, I encourage you to ask Him what He’s doing and how He’d like to use you.  I was surprised by God in that service.  Really, truth be told, I was surprised by God all weekend long.  He revealed how much delight He takes in busting open our boxes of what we think should happen.
