Ministry Report: Weekend of Breakthrough and My Ordination

flyer-5.5inx8.5in-h-frontI know it’s been a while since I shared a formal ministry report.  However, I wanted to take a moment to share some highlights of what Holy Spirit did this past weekend.  I don’t believe I’ve ever experienced anything quite like it!

Weekend of Breakthrough with Kyle Winkler and Larry Sparks

In Palm Beach Gardens, FL, my ministry colleague, Kyle Winkler, and I led a Weekend of Breakthrough conference at Covenant Centre International and then we traveled down to Awakening House of Prayer in Dania Beach, FL.   All I can say is wow.

During the services, the word of God was preached in boldness and then, Holy Spirit would come in powerful visitation.  Kyle and I ministered on the theme of identity-based warfare.  Too many believers spend their Christian lives “suiting up” and engaging in a bloodbath with a defeated devil.  God is summoning us, in this strategic hour, to what I call “offensive spiritual warfare.”  Instead of always reacting to the devil and the powers of darkness, we begin to look for what the Father is doing and pray prayers and make declarations that are in agreement with His movement rather than the devil’s.  In order to do this, it’s key that we 1) know our identity in Christ, 2) recognize that by the merit of Jesus’ blood, we are fit to enter God’s Presence, and 3) that we are called to create and release an atmosphere of breakthrough in our everyday lives.

image2Too many Christians (and believe me, I’ve been there) are waiting to someone to create an “atmosphere” for them to worship, engage God, or have faith.  Oh no.  We have the Spirit of the Risen Christ in us.  At any moment, we can release an atmosphere of Heaven because of the One who dwells in us.  The problem?  Too many Christians are living defeated by thoughts of unworthiness, guilt and shame.

By the final service on Saturday evening, I believe that God had dealt with many root issues and released a fresh revelation of our identity in Christ.  When that happens, we discover that by the merit of Jesus’ blood, we can boldly enter into the manifest Presence of God.

What happened Saturday evening was outstanding and unexpected.  Towards the end of the service, God came in.  Let me specify: The King came in.  It was one of the moments where we could not “stand to minister,” just like the priests in the Old Testament (see 2 Chron. 5:14), because that weighty Presence of God literally came crashing into that moment of time.   It became sacred space.  I believe many people were touched, healed, delivered and set free by the greatest Minister of all who has a 100% success rate: Holy Spirit.

My Ordination Service

On Sunday July 17, I was ordained for ministry by Dr. Norman Benz—a man who has become my spiritual father and partner in ministry.  It was a great honor, and truly, there were new dimensions of anointing released.

image1Awakening House of Prayer

Immediately after the ordination service, Kyle and I traveled down to Dania Beach to the Awakening House of Prayer (which is under the leadership of dear friend, ministry colleague, and senior editor of Charisma Magazine, Jennifer LeClaire).  This is where I saw immediate measurable results of my ordination being released.  I came prepared, with a message all ready to go.  Then, minutes before the service began, the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart so clearly, giving me a completely different direction to go in – a direction that was prophetically customized for the people attending that service at that moment, in that unique community.  I had to take a leap of faith, step out, and speak forth what the Lord put in my heart.  Truly, it was His word, not mine.  I had a word to share.  I was ready with what I thought should have been presented; God had another idea.

I don’t consider myself a prophet—not at all.  That’s not my ministry office.  But I do believe that the gifts of the Spirit are for everyone.  When the Holy Spirit sovereignly decides to use you in one of the manifestation gifts (1 Cor. 12), you’re up to bat.  Doesn’t matter if you’re a prophet by office or not.  When God is moving, and He invites you into His movement, go with the flow, friend!  I did.  I’d never operated in a prophetic flow like that.  Surely not a testimony to me or anything I could muster up; it’s a testimony that I speak over you, right now.  When the Spirit is moving, I encourage you to ask Him what He’s doing and how He’d like to use you.  I was surprised by God in that service.  Really, truth be told, I was surprised by God all weekend long.  He revealed how much delight He takes in busting open our boxes of what we think should happen.

Prepare for a Great Outpouring of the Holy Spirit! | Ministry Report 2015

Already, Heaven is shedding some light upon the plans of the Lord for 2016. Towards the conclusion of this amazing, incredible, and, at times, challenging and confrontational year, the Holy Spirit started to speak to me quite clearly on the merging of two expressions of revival.

For us to step into the great awakening that so many different leaders are speaking about and contending for, we need to change our perspective on revival. It cannot be an “either/or” approach; it’s “both/and.”

There are some who do not believe we need revival; they believe that revival is already here because the Spirit of God has been poured out and He lives inside of every Christ-follower. This is fundamentally true! This means we are licensed to walk in the power of revival. Every manifestation and demonstration we read about being associated with revivals of yesteryear should follow the “normal Christian life.” This includes preaching the Gospel with supernatural power, prophecy, signs and wonders, healing miracles, gifts of the Spirit in operation, deliverance, etc. I agree with this perspective on revival—that the supernatural should be natural for the believer. But there’s more…

There is another school of revival. They are crying out and contending for Heaven to open over churches, cities, regions and nations. Isn’t Heaven already open, though? Yes. Over the believer. It’s not open over darkness… at least, until those filled with the light of Heaven step into the darkness. Before we physically step into these pockets of darkness, we spiritually step into them by praying. We’re not begging; we are contending for a Covenant-keeping God to faithfully pour out His Spirit on all flesh, in the most unusual and extraordinary ways. Yes, I want us to do the works of revival, but I also wants us to cry out for the next great move of God. The Great Awakening. The Welsh Revival. Azusa Street. The Toronto Blessing. These were unusual outpourings that were the result of a collision between the sovereign intentions of God and the desperate hunger of people on Earth.

In 2016, I believe the Lord is making ready a people for unusual outpouring. He is literally preparing “revival-ready” ground in His church, so that what takes place among the community of believers would not be contained by four walls, but released into every sphere of society.

I introduce my “Year End” report with this charge because this is the very mandate that motivates everything that took place this year, and everything on the horizon for 2016.

Suffice it to say, 2015 was transitional and significant for me and the ministry the Lord has entrusted to me.

11226920_833047689298_7927585639467421976_oOne of the most significant transitions that took place was, after a five year-long journey, come May, I graduated Regent University with my Master of Divinity in Church History—a track I believe the Holy Spirit directed me to take. The great passion of my life has been revival. I love studying about the past moves of God, not because they are purposed to be memorialized, but because they are all demonstrations of one continuous, ever-increasing, ever-flowing River of God that has been on the move since Pentecost. They show me what’s possible for God’s people today. It’s not about asking God for another Pentecost; it’s about realigning with the flow of His River.
Perhaps the second most significant transition took place in my professional life, when I was promoted to Publisher of Destiny Image publishing house. It is truly the great honor of my life to help steward what the Holy Spirit is speaking in this hour through our incredible body of authors and books.

SPEAKING and TEACHING Ministry10881780_787289169738_5920154276859814954_n
The year started with a bang, as I traveled to Sid Roth’s TV studio in Charlotte North Carolina to an eight session curriculum on Revival History—and most importantly, how the church today can actually step back into the powerful flow of revival that has been continuing since the Day of Pentecost. This project is still in the works, as I am currently writing a book that will accompany the curriculum.

In terms of traveling/speaking ministry, I was so thrilled by the wonderful new relationships that the Lord built with local pastors and leaders in South Florida. I had the opportunity to speak at:

  • Covenant Centre International in Palm Beach Gardens, FL – Norman and Judy Benz
  • Visionary Centers International in Stuart, FL – Lynne and Tony Barletta
  • CIDRA Church in West Palm Beach, FL – Ruben and Gloria Arroyo
  • Christ Fellowship Royal Palm – Prayer Meeting with Pastor Ricky Becerra
  • Awakening House of Prayer, Hollywood FL – Jennifer LeClaire

12095266_841754106568_97924285606378772_oMy objective is not to secure more speaking engagements—my vision is to come alongside local pastors and leaders, build relationships, and collaborate together to help prepare a climate for regional awakening. The names listed next to each venue are not merely people I visited, spoke for, and then left; they are dear friends and partners in seeing a region transformed for the Kingdom of God. Honored to know and serve alongside each one of them.

Victory Weekends11695967_828598425658_8387827629142655763_n
In July, I had the privilege of conducting our first Victory Weekend with colleague, friend, and fellow author, Kyle Winkler (“Silence Satan”). We did three sessions at Covenant Centre International and saw the Holy Spirit release the freedom of Christ in powerful, unusual ways. I believe that these meetings served as a prototype for more similar conferences in the future.

March was a profoundly significant month, as it saw the official launch of Renewing South Florida with a two-day conference featuring Corey Russell. Renewing South Florida is a ministry initiative that God sovereignly birthed by connecting me with local pastor and apostolic leader, Dr. Norman Benz.

11050720_10153121496597999_5486675610217248594_n12029767_838273426878_3091830483447269327_oDr. Benz and the Covenant Centre International family have come in and out of my life since 2002. It all began when I attended a service at their old building where Tommy Tenney was speaking. That meeting ignited something in my heart, furthering my quest to “chase” God and catch His presence. Amazing how the Lord reunited us in this hour for the sake of the region.

Since March, we became committed to doing a monthly regional worship gathering and have been going strong ever since the first meetings with Corey Russell. Even more significant than the Lord adding to our numbers—which He has—perhaps the great blessing that has come out of these events is the increased unity among different pastors, leaders and local congregations in the region. It’s not about one specific local church receiving the acclaim or hosting celebrity Christian speakers; it’s about a hungry group of people pressing into God to experience regional revival. We will not stop until this becomes a reality!

I believe the Lord gave us a mandate to connect the region with the mothers and fathers of revival—the generals. So far, we have hosted Jeff Jansen, Karen Wheaton, Michael and Cherrie Kaylor, and Heidi Baker, with John and Carol Arnott and Randy Clark scheduled for 2016.

In June, I released my second book, The Fire That Never Sleeps, co-authored with two generals of revival—Dr. Michael Brown and John Kilpatrick. Although the book was inspired by the great outpouring of the Spirit that took place between 1995 and 2000 during the Brownsville Revival, the objective was to give everydayTheFireThatNeverSleeps_3D-1 believers practical keys on how to keep the fires of personal revival sustained in their lives. That’s ultimately the key to experiencing a great measure of corporate revival—individuals who remain ablaze for Jesus.

I also had the opportunity to be a part of Jennifer LeClaire’s fantastic book, The Next Great Move of God (Charisma). I had written a segment on how to steward revival and she so graciously included it in the book.

In terms of articles and blogs, I launched a column for Charisma Magazine: Point of Breakthrough: CLICK HERE FOR BLOG.

I had the great privilege of having an article featured as the cover story in Charisma 10392431_784807478068_8903035728125054293_nMagazine. The piece was written about a true general of the faith and someone who has become very dear to me in my walk with God, Dr. Randy Clark. CLICK HERE FOR ARTICLE.

I also wrote for the Toronto/Catch the Fire Revival Magazine and contributed a prophetic article a to ElijahList.

It’s always a joy to share the message of revival and awakening however I can!

I was honored to have my interview broadcast on Sid Roth’s It’s Supernatural featuring my book, “Breakthrough Faith.” It was featured on TBN, GodTV, and other major Christian TV networks—including the Discovery Channel!

You can view the programs below:

Thank You!!

For those of you who have partnered with the ministry in 2015—through prayer, encouragement or finances—this report is a listing of everything you were directly part of.

Regional revival is breaking out in South Florida!
The North American Church is awakening!
The body of Christ is moving past division and apathy, and becoming hungrier than ever for a genuine outpouring of the Spirit.

My driving objective is:

…to provide Bible-based, Spirit-filled resources that help ignite personal and regional revival. Through writing, preaching and media, my mission is to equip Christ-followers to experience the presence of the Holy Spirit resting upon them in supernatural power and Kingdom demonstration.

In short, my passion is to see every Christ-follower living everyday with the Holy Spirit resting upon them. This is when He transitions from being sound theology to experiential reality. Sound theology is wonderful. My question: Are we actually experiencing the One we have dedicated our lives to learning about?

Outpouring becomes inevitable when we decide that our spiritual hunger will exceed our religious history.

Where we’ve been in God is certainly worth celebrating, but He’s summoning us into deeper places. He’s calling us onward, higher, forward. There’s more available than what we are presently experiencing and tasting.

Even if you are absolutely overwhelmed by God’s glory and power in this present season, there’s more! And if you feel totally dead, dry, and spiritually destitute, that’s a sign that the Holy Spirit wants to awaken your hunger for more! Truly, no one is safe, off limits, too spiritual, or too worldly for the outpouring of the Spirit.

My goal? Simply to remain an encouraging voice in your walk with God, constantly reminding you that there is more of God for you to experience. The good news is that He’s not locked up in Heaven, waiting for the loudest prayer or the most religious-sounding begging. Oh no. He’s inside of you. Living water is within you. His name is Holy Spirit… and He wants to burst forth as a rushing river!

How You Can Respond…

Pray. Pray your city and region. Take ownership of where God has placed you in the place of intercession. It’s really easy. God has one major prayer strategy He is calling all of us to partner with: contend for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit to impact all flesh.

Partner. I am not after more venues for speaking engagements; I am looking for people that I can build relationship and partner with, long-term, to build cultures that welcome the fullness of Holy Spirit. 2014 Breakthrough Ministry Report

Dear Friend,

As we move into 2015, I encourage you to remember the mighty works that the Lord performed in 2014.

I know, I know. Every new year transition brings tremendous excitement, namely because we get to leave the old year behind and embrace a new beginning. A fresh start. Since our God specializes in the “upward and onward” direction, taking His people from glory to glory, we should absolutely celebrate forward momentum.

At the same time, the Bible is filled with the following directive: Remember. One of my favorite Scriptures is Psalm 77:11:

I will remember the LORD’s works. (HCSB)

The Message Bible paints the process of remembering this way:

Once again I’ll go over what GOD has done,
    lay out on the table the ancient wonders;
I’ll ponder all the things you’ve accomplished,
and give a long, loving look at your acts. (Psalm 77:11-12)

I encourage you, even though 2014 may have brought pain, tragedy, or sorrow, be intentional to look for the great things that God did… even in the midst of difficulty. How we navigate the future is directly connected to the lessons we learned from our past histories with God. The past works of the Lord are not meant to be mere memorials of what God did back then, but the miracles and breakthroughs of yesterday are designed to shape our thinking today. What God did sets a precedent of what He can and will do… in even a greater measure.

For those of you who have followed my ministry journey this year, it has been quite an adventure… to say the least! Thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your prayers, encouragement, Facebook comments and messages—everything. Truly, the Lord did more than I could have hoped, dreamed or imagined.

Here is my best effort to remember what the Lord has done in 2014 and lay out on the table the wonders of His mighty works. I have been focusing, primarily, on three key areas: Writing, speaking, and media, all purposed equip Christians with tools and resources to experience a sustained lifestyle of passion and power with the Holy Spirit.

Writing Ministry.
Providing encouragement, tools and resources to believers on how to live the supernatural Christian life empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Breakthrough Healing e-book released (Destiny Image, February 14, 2014). It even broke into the Top Ten list in New Age/Healing category on Amazon! I consider that quite the triumph, since that is the very audience that could strongly benefit from the Jesus-centered approach of the book.

BreakthroughFaith_BannerAd-250x400Breakthrough Faith book and e-book released nationwide (Destiny Image, October 15, 2014). With a foreword from Jack Taylor, and endorsements from key leaders such as Bill Johnson, Randy Clark, Sid Roth, Karen Wheaton and Dr. Vinson Synan, it was such an honor to release this book that has been 10 years in the making (but took about 4 months to actually write).

Speaking Ministry.
Helping Christians encounter the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit and enjoy sustained passion for Jesus Christ in their everyday lives.

Speaking at the Ramp School of Ministry, September 2014

This year marked the launch of my itinerant speaking ministry. I was blessed to minister at the following locations:
–    The Ramp School of Ministry, Hamilton AL
–    The Ramp Church, Hamilton AL
–    Regent University, School of Divinity Chapel, Virginia Beach VA
–    Palm Beach Atlantic University, West Palm Beach FL
–    Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, Juno Beach FL
–    Covenant Center International, Palm Beach Gardens FL

I continued to host my weekly radio show Voice of Destiny, recorded two radio programs with Dr. Michael Brown on The Line of Fire, recorded TV programs for TBN’s Praise the Lord and iBurn TV, and concluded the year by recording both a radio interview and TV program with Sid Roth for It’s Supernatural.

Once again, thank you for your prayers, encouragement and support. It means the world to me.

This is not about celebrating the accolades of Larry Sparks; it’s about remembering the grace and the favor of Lord Jesus Christ. Truly, I have nothing to offer, but what I have freely received, I freely give.

Back in Summer of 1999, I had one encounter with the Holy Spirit that marked me for the rest of my life. In some way, shape or form, I desire to help others experience His Presence in the same way, so that their lives would become fueled by authentic passion and radical zeal for the only One Who truly satisfies.

May you walk in the greater things that are awaiting in 2015, while also remembering the great things of 2014.

Fueled by His fire,
Larry Sparks

Ministry Report: The Holy Spirit Is Moving Powerfully At The Ramp in Alabama!

Last week, I was absolutely overwhelmed by what I witnessed and experienced in Hamilton, Alabama at the Ramp. Friends, God is alive and moving in our nation!

It’s so easy to be moved by the prophets of doom and gloom—whether it’s alleged prophetic voices in the church, or simply the barrage of nightly news that relentlessly steams into our worlds day after day.

Here’s the good news…

  • A generation is hungry for God… above anything
  • The Holy Spirit is raising up men and women who are going to take their places as the thought leaders and influencers of tomorrow.
  • Revival is not some sovereign, mysterious thing where God chooses random cities to pour out His Spirit upon—revival is Heaven’s response to mankind’s hunger.

Revival is Not a Mystery—I Saw It In Alabama!

Senior leader and founder of the Ramp, Karen Wheaton, introduced me to a quote from Charles Finney this past week – a quote that will stick with me forever. Finney, the great revivalist and soul winner, is quoted saying:

“A revival may be expected whenever Christians are found willing to make the sacrifices necessary to carry it on.”

In context, he expressed that revival is no more a miracle than a crop of wheat. It’s not mysterious or mystical. Revival is Heaven’s response to desperation from the Earth. We’re not desperate for God to send something new. Catch that. We’re not asking for another Pentecost. We need to start living like the first Pentecost was actually for real. Our eyes need to become wide once again at the thought of God inhabiting our mortal bodies and using us to release His Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven. This must cause our hearts to burn again. At the Ramp, I saw a generation that sought to access every blessing Heaven had deposited into their hearts. This deeply and profoundly moved me.

When I stepped foot into the Ramp auditorium on Wednesday morning for the 8:00 AM Prayer Service, I walked right into an open heaven. What we commonly call revival was normal in that atmosphere. There was no static. I didn’t have to wade through religion, boredom, routine, or any of the nonsense that we commonly deal with. The hunger from these students—these young people (average age from 18-23)—was totally contagious. It stirred my hunger. I thought I was hungry entering, but in that environment, my previous level of spiritual hunger was challenged by what I experienced. This is a wondrous thing for all of us, for when where we are is challenged, it is not God making us feel bad. Rather, He’s calling us higher. He’s summoning us deeper. That prayer meeting simply saturated me in God’s presence.

Teaching “Revival in Media” Seminar

That morning, I was honored to pour into the Ramp School of Ministry students for 3 hours, sharing a seminar that the Lord has been birthing in my heart called “Revival in Media.” Hollywood, Broadway, creativity, art—these realms do not belong to darkness. It’s time for the Kingdom of God to reclaim them. This is not the call for us to create a half-baked Christian sub-culture, where we basically photocopy everything in the world and place a “Christian” label on it. This is creating art beneath our inheritance as those with eyes to see and ears to hear.

This is an invitation for artists to become prophets… seers. It’s time for the creatives in the Kingdom to see clearly again. It’s time for those who have been called to create art—writing, acting, dancing, painting, songwriting—to access their inheritance as those who are able to gaze into the realms of Heaven, catch a glimpse of pure beauty, and release it into the Earth through their work.

During this teaching, two eras of my life collided. I went to college with aspirations of becoming a screenwriter… or at least, a film journalist. Some of the most prolific thought leaders on the subject of media have been my mentors and professors, namely Professor Terry Mattingly. After graduating college, the Lord started to stir my heart for nation-shaking revival. I had no idea how, or if, God would ever resurrect my previous passion for film and the arts. In these recent days, He has been doing that in an extraordinary way.

Never discount or write off a previous season in your life. It may seem like the Lord laid it dormant for a while, but you just wait. God might have ordained a past season to collide with a current or future season in order to release something new into the Earth through your life. Just live before Him saying “Yes” to whatever He wants you to do. That was the underlying message of the seminar. As those called to influence the Media and Performing Arts arena of society, above all—the pursuit of fame, fortune, or even creative expression—our driving declaration must be an overwhelming, booming “Yes” to God. This is what He is looking for in those He wants promote to shape the culture of a new generation. He is looking for artists who, even above producing art, host His presence with their lives. What’s the key to hosting the presence of God? Saying “Yes” to the Holy Spirit, no matter what the cost.

Ministry Time

The last hour of the seminar was reserved for ministry and impartation. I strongly sensed that the Holy Spirit wanted to move among us, so I simply concluded my presentation, called the worship team up and let them lead us into God’s Presence.

As we sang a few choruses of “Spirit Break Out,” the words struck my heart prophetically. Consider this declaration and its relevance to those that God is releasing to create by His anointing and power:

Our Father, all of Heaven roars Your Name

Sing louder, let this place erupt with praise

Can you hear it? The sound of Heaven touching Earth

Stop right there. This song was an invitation for the artists to hear clearly once again. After all, this is the blueprint we are called to follow when creating: Hearing the sounds of Heaven and releasing them into the Earth through creativity.

During this session, creative gifts were awakened, eyes were delivered from tormenting media images from the past, and a new army of media revolutionaries was activated. In short, the Spirit broke out in our midst and it was absolutely glorious.

The Ramp Church

That night, I was so honored to be invited back to preach to the Ramp Church community. The Lord actually dropped the message in my heart early that morning, during the Prayer Time. It was from Psalm 107, where we read about how God uses hungry people to establish cities. I felt that word was so relevant for that night. Little did I know that God has given the Ramp that very Scripture as a prophetic Word for what He was doing in their midst.

Ramp Preaching 01

Needless to say, it was a wonderful time in God’s presence. The invitation was simple—catch a fresh gaze of the Infinite One. This is where spiritual hunger is birthed. We need to get a greater glimpse of the never changing God. Every time we behold Him in a fresh way, our hearts burn to know Him deeper. In this way, hunger is never exhausted because God is infinite and inexhaustible. He has no end. That night, the Holy Spirit was helping all of us overcome “ceiling theology.” You know, when our theology actually causes us to put a ceiling on God, and a ceiling our how far we believe we can go in God. “I already know that” or “I’ve got that all figured out” or “I guess that’s all there is to Christianity.” Dangerous perspectives when it comes to actually encountering Almighty God.

In Conclusion

Thank you so much for your prayers for these meetings! I am convinced that this was not just another seminar, but something significant happened in the lives of these students as they received this word of the Lord. We must be aware that the pulpit of the twenty-first century is the media. Just imagine what could happen if those shaping media culture were those who were shaped by the Presence of God? I believe it’s possible. I see it.

I see a generation… rising up to take its place.
